BBC denies dumbing down Doctor Who

The BBC today has denied dumbing down Doctor Who in an attempt to make the show more accessible to younger viewers after details of the season finale were leaked onto the internet.

In last night’s episode Tooth And Claw, the Doctor met up with Queen Victoria, claiming to hail from the township of Balamory.

Little could viewers guess that this clue was the beginning of an arc for Rose and the Doctor, which will lead to the final episode which will feature a crossover with the Children’s TV program, which will end with Miss Hoodie the towns school teacher taking popular companion Rose Tyler’s place by the Doctor’s side.

New companion Miss Hoodie, played by Julie Wilson Nimmo

The two parter will see the Daleks arriving in the town of Balamory in search of an ancient Timelord artefact, a book which belonged to legendary Gallifreyan temporal engineer Omega. The Doctor, forewarned by the Face of Boe is hot on their heels.

Which of Balamory's residents will survive?

The book turns out to be hidden in Miss Hoodie’s class library. Taking Miss Hoodie’s hand, the Doctor flees the pursuing Daleks, but not all of Balamory’s residents are so lucky, as pleasant copper PC Plum is brutally gunned down by the Daleks in the main street!

PC Plum will be no match for the Daleks ...

Once safe, the Doctor has time to review the book and wonder how such a powerful Timelord artefact came to be in a school library. Miss Hoodie explains that it was given to her by Archie, Balamory’s resident inventor.

The Doctor and Miss Hoodie then go to Archie’s castle to challenge the inventor. But whilst waiting in the laboratory, the Doctor is horrified, as he recognises the technology as far beyond Earth science for this period. Archie walks in sporting a new beard, with a gun pointed at the Doctor and announces his true identity – he is the Master, and his castle is a badly damaged and malfunctioning Tardis.

Archie the inventor is unmasked as evil Timelord the Master

The Master's Tardis is in need of repair, with it's Chamelion Circuit badly malfunctioning

How will this be resolved? Will the Doctor be forced to team up with one enemy to defeat the other? You’ll have to wait for the season finale for these questions to be answered …
